Visa medical service – New Zealand

A medical examination if you're planning a permanent move to New Zealand.

Currently available at Spire Little Aston Hospital only.

We're approved by Immigration New Zealand to provide visa medical and radiological (X-ray) examinations for people planning to visit or live in New Zealand. Visa medicals, X-rays and blood tests can all be arranged and performed at the same appointment.

All of our centres are eMedical clinics, which means we can process your health examination online and provide a quicker visa turn-around than traditionally handled paper copies.

Why you might need it

You’ll generally need to have a medical exam if you're planning to live permanently in New Zealand.

You may need to have a health assessment if you're applying for a temporary visa. This is dependant on certain criteria including the type of visa you want, the amount of time you're planning to stay in New Zealand, your intended activities during your stay, and if you have 'significant' medical conditions.

The New Zealand Government has a list of approved physicians who can carry out the visa medical assessments. We have approved doctors at selected Spire hospitals.

Who will do it?

Our patients are at the heart of what we do and we want you to be in control of your care. To us, that means you can choose the consultant you want to see, and when you want. They'll be with you every step of the way.

All of our consultants are of the highest calibre and benefit from working in our modern, well-equipped hospitals.

Our consultants have high standards to meet, often holding specialist NHS posts and delivering expertise in complex sub-specialty surgeries. Many of our consultants have international reputations for their research in their specialised field.

Before your treatment

You will have a formal consultation with a healthcare professional. During this time you will be able to explain your medical history, symptoms and raise any concerns that you might have.

We will also discuss with you whether any further diagnostic tests, such as scans or blood tests, are needed. Any additional costs will be discussed before further tests are carried out.
