Because cancer services can differ from hospital to hospital, the options available near you may vary. Some of our hospitals offer full treatment pathways, while others focus on diagnostics or specific therapies. We’ll help guide you to the right specialists and services at your chosen Spire hospital.

We offer tests and scans for cancers including breast, bowel, lung and prostate. 

Many of our hospitals offer one-stop clinics for breast cancer where you have a number of tests and can see a consultant on the same day.

Our modern and well-equipped hospitals are staffed by our expert specialists who'll be there to support you every step of the way - even after your treatment has finished.

We work closely with cancer treatment partners including GenesisCare, have a number of Bupa accredited breast care centres and many of our hospitals are accredited with Macmillan Cancer Support.

Cancer care begins with accurate and timely diagnosis. At Spire, you can access a range of tests and scans including:

• CT, MRI and ultrasound scans
• Genetic risk assessments

These diagnostic tools help your specialist understand your symptoms and plan the best next steps. 

After diagnosis, treatment may include surgery, systemic therapies such as chemotherapy or targeted therapies and biologics, radiotherapy or other specialised procedures like High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU), Photodynamic therapy (PDT) or Selective internal radiotherapy (SIRT)

Do I need a GP referral to book cancer tests at Spire?
Not always. In many cases you can contact us directly to arrange certain tests, such as scans or blood tests. For some investigations or treatments, you may need a referral from your GP or another specialist - our team can guide you through the best next step.

Will every Spire hospital offer the same cancer treatments?
No, services vary depending on the hospital. All our hospitals provide access to expert consultants and diagnostic tests, but only some offer access to Consultant Oncologists, treatments such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy or some surgery. We’ll help you understand what’s available locally and direct you to the right hospital for your care.

What is a one-stop cancer clinic?
A one-stop clinic means you can often see a consultant, have recommended tests (such as scans or biopsies), and receive results in a short time - sometimes even on the same day. This helps reduce waiting and gives you answers more quickly.

How soon can I get an appointment?
We aim to offer fast access, often within just a few days. Waiting times may differ by hospital and service, but our enquiry team will let you know the earliest available appointment when you contact us.

Can I use my health insurance for cancer care?
Yes, most private medical insurers include cancer investigations and treatments in their cover, though the details vary between policies. If you’re paying for your own care, we’ll give you clear information about costs and payment options before you decide.

What other support is available alongside treatment?
We know cancer care isn’t just about tests and treatment. Many Spire hospitals can offer access to counselling, diet and nutrition advice, physiotherapy and other supportive therapies to help you with your recovery and overall well being.
