Falls prevention service

Helping over 65s stay fit and continue independent living

30% of people over 65 years old and 50% of people over 80 fall at least once a year. This type of incident can have a significant impact on the person’s health and social circumstances, potentially affecting their ability to live independently.

Spire Little Aston Hospital has developed a falls prevention service for people over 65 run by a specialist physiotherapist who has over 14 years’ experience in elderly rehabilitation.

What does it involve?

Our falls prevention service comprises an hour-long assessment designed to ensure a person’s suitability for any subsequent treatment.  Treatment will be tailored to the individual’s specific needs but will be exercise-based and designed to improve strength, balance, coordination and agility – all with a view to addressing the causes of reduced mobility and the risk of falling.
