If you've noticed a breast lump or changes to your breast which cause concern, our one-stop breast clinic offers a same day investigation and results within two hours.

Led by fully qualified breast surgeons and supported by specialist radiologists and pathologists, the clinic is accessible to everyone, with or without a GP referral.

For peace of mind our clinics are available Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, so appointments are usually available within 72 hours.

If you have private medical insurance, please contact your insurance provider to check if a GP referral letter is needed.

Bupa accredited specialist breast centre

As a Bupa accredited centre, Spire Little Aston offers Bupa members rapid access (within two working days) to specialist consultation and a triple assessment (offering mammogram, ultrasound and core biopsy). For many patients this provides same day peace of mind reassurance. For those who undergo a biopsy they can expect to receive their initial results within two working days of the triple assessment clinic. Any Bupa customers needing further treatment are offered a treatment start date within 31 days of their initial contact with Spire Healthcare.

Funding your own treatment

Our self–funding price packages are tailored to your needs and may depend on the diagnostic tests recommended by your consultant.

Using private health insurance

If you are using private medical insurance, you may need a GP referral letter. Check with your insurer and then call us on 0121 580 7151 to book a breast clinic appointment.

Self–funding price packages

One-stop breast assessment (for 40 plus years)

  • A consultation with a consultant breast surgeon (including taking of history and physical examination)
  • A diagnostic mammogram investigation
  • Ultrasound of both breasts

One-stop breast assessment (under 40 years)

  • A consultation with a consultant breast surgeon (including taking of history and physical examination)
  • A diagnostic ultrasound investigation and/or mammogram

Depending on your results, further investigations may be required at an additional charge. Your consultant will discuss this with you and will always give you an option to return to the NHS, if necessary.

Additional costs will be incurred if you have the following:

  • Ultrasound guided biopsy or fine needle aspiration (including pathology*)
    *Results of pathology will not be available on the same day
  • An additional follow-up appointment with breast consultant to discuss pathology results

All additional costs not part of your package will be discussed with you in full before investigations take place.

One-stop breast clinic next steps

A number of your diagnostic test results will be available immediately and your consultant will talk through test findings with you and advise you on the next steps.

If tests confirm a diagnosis of breast cancer your consultant will discuss treatment options with our multi-disciplinary team of breast care specialists. If required, you may also be referred for further opinion and care to a consultant oncologist. Subsequent treatment may include one or a combination programme of surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and/or hormone therapy. Appointments for onward referrals, diagnostics or treatment will be discussed before you leave the clinic.
