Falls prevention class

A falls prevention service for people over 65.

30% of people over 65 years old and 50% of people over 80 years old fall at least once a year. This type of incident can have a significant impact on the person’s health and social circumstances, potentially affecting their ability to live independently.

Spire Little Aston Hospital has developed a falls prevention service for people over 65 run by a specialist physiotherapist who has over 12 years’ experience in elderly rehabilitation.

What does it involve?

Our falls prevention service comprises an hour long assessment designed to ensure a person’s suitability for the course of treatment, which involves 6 weeks of class based exercise specifically designed to address the causes of reduced mobility and the risk of falling.

A final assessment to assess progress and provide advice on continued exercise completes the package. Each course is limited to a maximum of 6 people with 2 members of staff running/supervising the classes, ensuring a safe environment. A continuer’s class is available for those wanting to continue to attend following completion of the initial course.
