Tests for men and women to determine the cause of infertility problems.
We offer several fertility tests for patients. These can include hormone blood tests to test female fertility and semen analysis to test male fertility.
If you've been trying to conceive for a while without success, you may wish to undergo some tests to help determine the cause of any infertility. These tests can also assist you in choosing the right treatment options.
Male fertility is tested by analysing a sample of semen, which measures sperm count. Fertility problems in about a third of cases are due to the male partner.
Hormone blood tests such as FSH, LH, oestrogen, prolactin and anti-mullerian hormone are used to test female fertility.
If you've been trying for a baby through regular unprotected sex for less than a year, and there's no reason to think you might have a fertility issue, your doctor may suggest you keep trying for a while, before you seek testing.
A fixed price for this treatment may be available on enquiry and following an initial consultation. Spire Healthcare can provide you with a single, fixed price so there are no surprises. Please read Spire Healthcare's terms and conditions for full details of what’s included and excluded in your fixed price when paying for yourself. Finance options are available through our partner Omni Capital Retail Finance Ltd, 10 Norwich Street, London, EC4A 1BD.
Our patients are at the heart of what we do and we want you to be in control of your care. To us, that means you can choose the consultant you want to see, and when you want. They'll be with you every step of the way.
All of our consultants are of the highest calibre and benefit from working in our modern, well-equipped hospitals.
Our consultants have high standards to meet, often holding specialist NHS posts and delivering expertise in complex sub-specialty surgeries. Many of our consultants have international reputations for their research in their specialised field.
You will have a formal consultation with a healthcare professional. During this time you will be able to explain your medical history, symptoms and raise any concerns that you might have.
We will also discuss with you whether any further diagnostic tests, such as scans or blood tests, are needed. Any additional costs will be discussed before further tests are carried out.
We've tried to make your experience with us as easy and relaxed as possible.
For more information parking and all those other important practicalities, please visit our patient information pages.
Our dedicated team will also give you tailored advice to follow in the run up to your visit.
We understand that having tests can potentially be a time of anxiety and worry. Our experienced and caring medical staff will be there for you.
Fertility tests are conducted by analysing a sample of semen to determine sperm count or, in the case of women, by taking a small sample of blood for testing in our laboratories. A blood test can help find out whether you have a hormone imbalance, which can cause problems with ovulation.
Once your test results are available, a consultant gynaecologist or other healthcare professional will discuss the results with you, including the next steps and any potential treatment options.
The treatment described on this page may be adapted to meet your individual needs, so it's important to follow your healthcare professional's advice and raise any questions that you may have with them.
