22 November 2021

Spire Healthcare has been announced as the deserving winner of the Best Workplace for Learning and Development - Over 1,500 Nursing Staff category at the Nursing Times Workforce Summit & Awards 2021.

On Wednesday 17 November, Nursing Times brought together over 500 nurses from across the health and care community at The Brewery in London.

Finalists and members of the nursing community attended a glittering awards ceremony covering 15 categories recognising organisations going above and beyond to recruit and retain their nursing workforce. There were deserving winners from organisations across the UK.

Following a rigorous judging process, Spire Healthcare emerged as the winner of the Best Workplace for Learning and Development award for organisations with more than 1,500 nursing staff. The award recognised the introduction of a whole range of learning and development initiatives for clinical and non-clinical colleagues, including Spire’s new nurse apprenticeship programme, one of the biggest in the country.

The judges praised Spire Healthcare for its excellent and well-thought out programme with measurable outcomes. The panel were particularly impressed by the improvement in colleague survey responses and the launch of apprenticeship training.

Editor of Nursing Times and the host of the awards, Steve Ford said:

“These awards are about celebrating nursing’s workforce achievements, highlighting the brilliant work carried out by individuals and teams, after what has been, and continues to be, an incredibly difficult period for the profession due to Covid-19 and other challenges.

“Once again, we have recognised initiatives on staff wellbeing and diversity and inclusion, two incredibly significant areas that continue to require focus and improvement.

“Congratulations to all our finalists and to our winners across our 15 categories at the 2021 Nursing Times Workforce Awards.”
