I am a Professor of Cardiology at the University of Leicester and a Consultant Cardiologist at the Cardiac Centre, Glenfield Hospital, Leicester. I am also a Medical Director of the British Heart Foundation.
I have been awarded an NHS Platinum Clinical Excellence Award. I am a National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Senior Investigator and Director of the Leicester NIHR Cardiovascular Biomedical Research Unit.
My main research interest is in understanding the inherited basis of cardiovascular diseases. We are one of the leading groups working in this field and internationally recognised for this work. I have received numerous awards for my research including the International Okamoto award of the Japanese Circulation Foundation.
I am a Deputy Lieutenant of Leicestershire and was knighted for services to medicine and medical research in the New Year’s Honours list 2015.
I hold a Saturday clinic at Spire Leicester Hospital for new and follow-up patients. I also undertake angiography and intervention at Glenfield Hospital. For urgent referrals or to discuss treatment with me, please contact my private secretary.
