As a Consultant Surgeon for 30 years, I have extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment, across all stages, of prostate cancer.
Treatments I offer include aquablation, andrology, focal therapy for prostate cancer with high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), penile prosthesis insertion, peyronie’s disease treatments,
I offer treatments for BPH - Urolift REZUM, Aquablation, TURP. Other treatment areas include sexual dysfunction (penile prosthesis implants), SpaceOARTM insertion, and state of the art prostate fusion biopsies.
My clinical interests also include male subfertility, andrology, erectile dysfunction, bladder and prostate cancer, low male testosterone and male erectile dysfunction.
I have uniquely in the Southwest Region engaged a system of fusion biopsy which allows for the most accurate targeted treatment of prostate cancers with Focal Therapy using High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU). Results show that for the appropriate stages and grades of disease, this treatment produces excellent outcomes with minimal toxicity in sexual function and incontinence.
In the more common areas of benign prostate enlargement which causes distressing symptoms of sleep loss and embarrassment, I offer a full range of medical and surgical treatments including water vapour (REZUM) treatment which avoids many of the hazards of standard TURP such as excess bleeding. At Spire I also offer Aquablation for larger prostates.
I have developed a sound practice in erectile dysfunction (over three decades) using the newest medical therapy approaches. If this this fails I offer state-of-the art penile prosthesis implantation using either Boston or Coloplast implants. I offer within my years of experience tailored treatments for Peyronie's disease in all its stages of development, including Perovial injections (overall success rate of 80-90%).
I am an expert in male infertility and have some of the best results nationally for success in micro-surgical reversal of vasectomy. I also perform high numbers of microsurgical varicocele ligation for subfertility or pain.
I have published over 10 books in the field of urological surgery and its practice. I was former CRUK and NIHR Clinical Trials Advisory Board and Former Cancer Services Committee Member Royal College of Surgeons. In 2015 I received a Gold Award for services to the NHS.
In my personal life, I am married with four children. Much of my spare time is spent visiting units in the developing world teaching and training junior doctors and healthcare professionals. I enjoy tennis, travel and playing the piano.
