Some of the principal treatments carried out by Professor Pradeep Bhandari at Spire include:
Inflammatory bowel disease, gastrointestinal cancer, endoscopy.
I am a general gastroenterologist with expertise in advanced endoscopic procedures, screening and treatment of gastrointestinal cancers. I have a special interest in diseases of the stomach and intestines.
I commonly accept referrals for patients needing endoscopy or presenting with gastrointestinal symptoms like: dyspepsia, change in bowel habit, rectal bleeding, weight loss inflammatory bowel diseases, irritable bowel disease and abnormal liver function tests.
I trained in the Wessex region and worked at various hospitals in the region including, Poole, Bournemouth, Southampton and Winchester.
In 2004, I received a visiting fellowship to work at one of the world's leading endoscopy units at the National Cancer Centre in Tokyo, Japan. I worked with pioneers of new endoscopic techniques involved in diagnosis and endoscopic treatment of cancers.
Based on my experience and skills acquired in Japan I have significantly influenced the diagnosis, screening, surveillance and treatment of gastrointestinal cancers in this region.
I regularly receive referrals from other regional hospitals for chromoendoscopy and endoscopic mucosal resection (endoscopic removal of cancers without the need for radical surgery). In 2013, I received two prestigious awards; the Hopkins Endoscopy Award for technical innovation in the field of endoscopy, by the British Society of Gastroenterology and the Crystal Award for research in early cancer diagnosis by the American Gastroenterology Association.
