I am Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the University of Leicester and honorary consultant at Glenfield Hospital, Leicester. I am also honorary clinical professor at Loughborough University. 

With more than 30 years of working in a clinical setting and 20 years as a consultant in respiratory medicine, I have a wide-ranging knowledge and experience of the assessment and care of patients with a range of lung conditions.

I consult on respiratory conditions such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), asthma, bronchiectasis, interstitial lung disease. I have expertise in the assessment, evaluation and treatment of respiratory symptoms such as breathlessness and cough. I also have expertise in the management of sleep breathing problems such as sleep apnoea and snoring.

I provide care for people being assessed for lung volume reduction therapies for emphysema and home ventilation for a variety of conditions including neuromuscular and thoracic cage disorders.

With other colleagues I lead the specialist home ventilation, lung volume reduction and complex COPD services at Glenfield Hospital.

I have research interests in the management of COPD, pulmonary rehabilitation and nutrition in chronic respiratory disease.

I am a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and a member of the British and Americal Thoracic Societies and the European Respiratory Society.
