I was appointed at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) in 2013 as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon, where my elective work covers all aspects of knee surgery. I have specialist interests in early and end stage knee arthritis and its treatment by non-operative and operative methods (such as replacement surgery), arthroscopic (telescope) treatment of cartilage and meniscal problems and management of knee cap dislocations.

I took over as Lead of the Orthopaedic Research Unit in 2016 and was appointed as an Honorary Professor at University of East Anglia in the same year. All of my research is tailored to improving patient outcomes by laboratory-based investigations and trials involving surgical and rehabilitation techniques.

I undertook my undergraduate training at the University of Cambridge and qualified as a doctor from the University of Oxford in the year 2000. Then I undertook my higher surgical training on the East Anglian rotation. During this time I undertook a research degree (Doctorate of Medicine) at the University of Cambridge, with the research topic investigating the reconstruction of bone following failed joint replacement, for which I was awarded both luminosity and the top thesis prize in 2010.

I also undertook three fellowships over the course of two and a half years, training under international experts. Then I trained in sports surgery, including arthroscopic surgery and ligament reconstruction, and early arthritis intervention at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, a complex knee revision arthroplasty fellowship in Nottingham and a trauma fellowship at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge.
