Professor Hemant Sharma

I am a highly experienced orthopaedic surgeon practising at Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital. I specialise in lower limb conditions, with a focus on hip, knee, foot and ankle surgery, including minimally invasive and limb reconstruction techniques. My approach is centred on delivering personalised care, ensuring you feel fully informed and involved in every stage of your treatment.

I completed my initial medical training in India before undertaking advanced orthopaedic training in Newcastle and across the Yorkshire region. I further specialised in hip and knee replacement, as well as foot and ankle surgery in Yorkshire, and completed a dedicated limb reconstruction fellowship in Belfast.

I offer expert assessment and treatment for a wide range of conditions, including: Hip and knee replacement surgery. Knee and ankle arthroscopy (keyhole surgery). Bunion treatment, including minimally invasive (keyhole) techniques. Foot and ankle surgery for a variety of conditions. Limb reconstruction procedures, including deformity correction, non-union treatment and bone infection management and advanced Ilizarov techniques for complex limb conditions.

Alongside my clinical work, I am passionate about education and research. I regularly teach and lecture both across the UK and internationally, and I run internationally recognised orthopaedic courses here in Hull. I believe strongly in a holistic approach to patient care, combining surgical expertise with clear communication and shared decision making to achieve the best outcomes.
