I have extensive experience in all aspects of endocrinology, diabetes and internal medicine and have been a consultant since 2009. My interest lies in integrated working to achieve the best patient outcomes and excellent patient satisfaction through person-centred care.

In endocrinology, I have a large practice involving pituitary disease but also other aspects of endocrinology such as thyroid, adrenal and reproductive disorders and metabolic disorders (including calcium metabolism and osteoporosis).

In diabetes, I have extensive experience in all aspects of treatment of the condition and its complications with a special interest in complex management of type 2 and type 1 diabetes.

In addition to being a Consultant Physician in Endocrinology and Diabetes at the Countess of Chester Hospital, I am the clinical lead for an award winning integrated diabetes services. I have been Chairman of the North West pre-gestational diabetes audit group and am Chairman of the Western Cheshire Diabetes Network.

I lead a successful clinical trials unit that has achieved the highest recruitment figures nationally to studies involving cutting edge therapies for diabetes and its complications. I publish in peer reviewed journals on a regular basis on various diabetes and endocrine topics and present nationally and internationally.

My other leadership roles include Clinical Director for Urgent Care at the Countess of Chester Hospital. I was previously the Chairman of the New Consultants Committee and the Acute Care Fellow at the Royal College of Physicians, London. I am currently the Future Hospital Officer at the Royal College of Physicians, London and am a member of the Future Hospital Programme Board.

I am very much a family man with three young children, Holly, Megan and Aiden and my specialist subject courtesy of my youngest is Thomas the Tank Engine!

I enjoy playing the guitar and have spent some time as a thespian doing Shakespeare amongst other things. I also enjoy sport and believe that healthy is the new happy!
