In 1990 at UCD in Ireland, I graduated from my degree and was awarded a gold medal, first-class honours. I undertook a PhD in Leeds and started as a consultant in 2000. I have been at Spire Elland for over two decades now.
My laboratory is very active in stem cell research in osteoarthritis, but we are not currently offering stem cell treatments as more research is needed. My work covers research into diverse conditions including the seronegative arthropathies, gout and pseudogout, lupus, vasculitis, polymyalgia rheumatica, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. I am an internationally known expert in inflammatory arthritis, having published over 360 papers. My Google scholar impact factor is very high. My seminal work and concepts has changed the way diseases of the immune system are viewed by doctors and scientists.
