I deeply understand how profoundly headaches, migraines, and neurological conditions can affect every part of a person’s life. The physical pain, emotional toll, and frustration of repeated flare‑ups and unsuccessful treatments can be overwhelming. Many patients I see have lived with years of uncertainty, anxiety, and limited relief.
I am equally experienced in supporting people who are experiencing symptoms for the first time, providing early reassurance, clear explanations, and expert guidance. I combine extensive clinical expertise with genuine compassion, recognising that behind every symptom is a person seeking clarity, comfort, and hope.
I am a Consultant Neurologist at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust and Professor of Neurology at the University of Birmingham, providing specialist care for patients from Worcester, Worcestershire, and the wider West Midlands. I am one of the UK’s leading experts in headache, migraine, and intracranial pressure disorders. In 2025, I was appointed Chair of the British Association for the Study of Headache, where I am leading the update of the UK national guidelines for migraine treatment.
With over a decade of consultant‑level experience, I specialise in the diagnosis and management of complex headache and neurological disorders, including migraine, cluster headache, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, low‑pressure headaches, facial pain, trigeminal neuralgia, and post‑traumatic headache.
My special clinical interests include: botulinum toxin (Botox) therapy for chronic migraine, CGRP monoclonal antibody therapy for migraine, greater occipital nerve blocks for headache pain, lumbar puncture, including diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and advanced management of complex and refractory headache disorders.
I graduated with honours from the University of Birmingham Medical School in 2000, completed specialist neurology training in the UK (CCT in 2012), and went on to complete a PhD in neurological research and a clinical fellowship in headache medicine. My work has shaped both clinical practice and research internationally.
Patients can be reassured that they are in the care of someone who combines deep medical expertise with a warm, patient‑centred approach. I offer in‑person consultations and remote appointments (Zoom or telephone) to suit individual preferences.
