I am the Lead Genetic Counsellor at the Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland NHS Genomic Service. I have more than 15 years’ experience in genetic counselling and testing, specialising in cancer genetic testing. I sit on several committees, have been an advisor to several cancer charities and have published on multiple areas of genetics. I have lectured at Leicester University and I am an expert witness in genetics. I am renowned for providing ethical and clinically actionable genetic testing.
I previously led a national team of genetic counsellors while running the company Genehealth UK from 2014 to 2021. As the Genetic Director I was responsible for developing cancer protocols, managing the team of genetic counsellors and providing strategic genetic advice to the board.
I teach cancer risk assessment to allied healthcare professionals, am a GCRB assessor and also a mentor to genetic counsellors. I have been a medical advisor for a popular BBC drama series and have appeared on multiple television programmes and radio broadcasts in the UK as well as in Connecticut, USA.
I have worked with numerous specialists and previously led a team of genetic counsellors at NW Thames Regional Genetic Service covering North London, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. In this position I was responsible for developing local and national genetic testing guidelines.
Prior to my work in the UK, I led the cancer genetics department at Stamford Hospital in the US and launched the first colorectal cancer registry in the state of Connecticut.

I live with my partner, Richard in Lincolnshire and enjoy walking our dog and spending time with our eight children who range in age from 10 months to 12 years. In my spare time I am a governor for the local primary school and enjoy travelling as much as possible.
