FRCPODS, MSc
Specialises in
I have been a consultant at a large teaching hospital for 16 years and I perform hundreds of procedures each year focusing mainly on forefoot reconstruction. I mainly treat bunion deformities, hammer toes, neuroma and arthritis in the foot.
I specialise in treating the foot and its associated structures and forefoot reconstructive surgery. My scope of practice ranges from the forefoot to the rearfoot and I treat a wide variety of pathologies including patients with diabetes and the associated high-risk foot.
I achieved my fellowship in 2003 and was appointed into my current post in 2006. In parallel, I completed a Masters in public health specifically to build upon my research skills and to gain a better understanding and appreciation of the public health sector. I work within an acute trust, which facilitates good professional relationships with other specialties.
I am a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon at West Middlesex University Hospital and an elected committee member on The Faculty Podiatric Surgery. I am also a National Tutor in surgery.
I am a registered tutor and am involved in the teaching and training of students. I enjoy mentoring podiatrists as they progress to surgical training and through their injection therapy courses. I am an external examiner for Huddersfield University. I have published a number of papers in scientific journals.
As a working mother, I appreciate the time restraints and delicate balance of family life. I believe in strong role models and am passionate about inspiring and nurturing new talent in our profession.
I enjoy long family walks with our dog, reading and watch a good film.
My Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) number is CH10367.
Choosing a foot care specialist
Every doctor, nurse, physiotherapist or other health professional has specific skills and qualifications. They can only provide care that fits within those skills and rules set by their profession. For foot care specialists this means:
Podiatrists - They diagnose and treat problems with your feet and lower limbs (they are not medical doctors). They can provide advice, prescribe certain medications and carry out non-surgical treatments.
Podiatric Consultants - These are highly experienced podiatrists (they are not medical doctors). They can manage complex foot and ankle conditions, using a range of non-surgical treatments.
Consultant Podiatric Surgeons - They are podiatrists who have completed additional training (they are not medical doctors). They can manage complex foot and ankle conditions using a range of non-surgical treatments and perform some surgical procedures.
