Clare Johnston qualified in 1994 from Leeds University with a degree in physiotherapy. In 1996, she trained in Woman’s Health physiotherapy and achieved an advanced certificate in the treatment of the pelvic floor.
Clare has worked at Spire for the last 18 years is and is an experienced woman’s Health Physiotherapist, she runs training sessions for GP’s and other allied health professionals. Clare has a particular interest in treating the post-partum lady and identifying any early issues that may potentially cause long term problems.
Clare covers all areas of Woman’s health; including post-operative breast and gynaecological surgery, pregnancy related musculoskeletal conditions and abdominal separation (Diastasis Rectus abdominis), vulval pain (vulvodynia), all kinds of bladder and bowel dysfunction and pelvic floor disorders.
Clare works closely with specialist consultants in her field and regularly attends multi-disciplinary meetings. She is currently training in urodynamics. Over the past 20 years Clare has gained a wealth of hands on experience; including working in a trauma unit in Minneapolis USA, managing a consultant lead pain management team and teaching ante and post-natal classes.
After she qualified, Clare worked for Northampton Saints rugby club while working towards a certificate in orthopaedic medicine and a post graduate diploma in Sports physiotherapy. She was a clinical educator at the University of Hertfordshire until 2001 and has also worked extensively in hydrotherapy and post-operative rehabilitation.

Clare has a busy family life with two very active teenage boys. She enjoys keeping fit at Hiit classes, cycling and volunteering at the local scouting group.Back to top
