Professional profile

My specialty interests include the management of patients with functional oculoplastic conditions including: eyelid malpositions like entropion, ectropion, droopy eyelids (ptosis), dermatochalasis requiring blepharoplasty; management of periocular cysts and tumours, watery eyes requiring dacryocystorhinostomy. I also have a vast experience in treating children with oculoplastic problems.

My cosmetic surgery specialisation includes, removal of excess skin from the upper or lower eyelids (blepharoplasty), removal of periocular skin lesions, adjustment of upper lid height and appearance. I specialise in personalised aesthetic surgery with a focus on natural outcomes with minimal surgical intervention. I regularly audit my outcomes and patient satisfaction and have always had extremely positive feedback, reflected in my annual appraisals.

I have performed over 5,000 cataract operations, offer surgery under topical anaesthesia (eye drops only), implant lenses to correct astigmatism (Toric IOLs) and have an extremely low complication rate.

I joined the Nottingham University Hospitals, NHS Trust, as a consultant Oculoplastic surgeon in 2010. Having graduated from the University of Pune, India, I went on to complete my specialisation in ophthalmology from the West Midlands Training Programme. Following this, I undertook Oculoplastic Fellowships in Leicester and at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. I am also Fellowship trained in Paediatric Ophthalmology from the Birmingham Children’s Hospital. I spent two months in Toronto and Philadelphia in 2011, to further my oculoplastic expertise.

I have a vast experience in the management of adults and children with oculoplastic conditions and train international Fellows and national Specialist trainees.

I am regularly invited as a guest speaker to national and international meetings and conduct training courses. I review articles for publication in journals and have published in peer reviewed scientific journals. I currently co-head the department of Ophthalmology at NUH NHS Trust, with my colleague.
