Mrs Anjana Haridas

Consultant Ophthalmologist

BMBCh(Oxon), MA(Cantab), FRCOphth

Specialises in

I am currently a full-time NHS Consultant Ophthalmologist (eye doctor) at the Cardiff Eye Unit, University Hospital of Wales (Heath Hospital) and Bridgend Eye Unit, Princess of Wales Hospital.

I graduated as a medical doctor from Cambridge and Oxford University and I have been an eye specialist for 13 years, having completed most of my ophthalmology training in the East of England Deanery. I have completed three world-renowned fellowships (super-specialist training) in Cambridge, Australia and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London (with Professor JRO Collin in Europe’s largest eye hospital). This means that in addition to seeing general eye conditions, I also have particular expertise in plastic surgery around the eyes (oculoplastic surgery) ie Eyelid, Lacrimal (tear drainage) and Orbital (eye socket) reconstructive surgery.

I am actively involved in national and international research and have previously been awarded a Fight for Sight Award for research into Thyroid Eye Disease. I currently train international and national fellows in oculoplastic surgery.

I grew up in Cardiff, and although I did all my training outside Wales, it has been a pleasure to bring my experience back home and work alongside friends.

I am passionate about eyes, and with a busy family life (I have three young children), I take pride in enjoying my work and generally come to work to relax! I do, however, also enjoy fencing, dancing, music and trekking in the beautiful Welsh countryside.

My aim is to use my expertise and training to provide a world-class, up-to-date and bespoke service for my patients. I endeavour to provide the type of personal care for my patients that I would expect for one of my own family.
