Professional profile
I am an experienced ophthalmologist with 19 years of post-training experience in ophthalmology including 13 years in the UK.
I have excellent skills in cataract surgery with a few thousand documented and continuously audited cases. The results of a recent audit of my toric intraocular lenses to correct astigmatism were comparable to the results of large eye hospitals in the UK.
In my recent appraisal, the audit of intra-vitreal injections and laser procedures, showed that the complication rate was 0%.
In addition, I have excellent skills and knowledge of medical retina, general ophthalmology and laser procedures. My general ophthalmology experience is very wide and that includes acute eye diseases, non-surgical glaucoma and neuro-ophthalmology.
While in training I was found to have enough skills that, in 2009, I was trusted to establish, organise and lead the age-related macular degeneration service in Peterborough.
I am a permanent consultant at Calderdale and Huddersfield Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. I have trainees attached to most of my clinical and surgical sessions. In addition, I am on the consultants’ on-call rota. I actively participate in the postgraduate training meetings.
In the UK I worked at University Hospitals Aintree NHS Foundation Trust (Liverpool), Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trusts and, since September 2013, I have been working at Calderdale and Huddersfield hospitals NHS Foundation Trusts.
