I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust who specialises in hip and knee surgery.
My special interests are primary and revision arthroplasty, arthroscopy, hip problems in the young adult and joint preserving procedures. The procedures I offer are hip replacement surgery, knee replacement surgery, partial knee replacement, revision hip replacement surgery, hip arthroscopy, knee arthroscopy and joint preserving procedures.
I have been performing hip arthroscopy for femoro-acetabular impingement and labral pathology for many years and am one of the few surgeons in the region who is experienced in doing these complex procedures.
I have a special interest in managing young patients with arthritis. With my colleague at the children’s hospital, I have set up a joint replacement service at Alderhey Children’s Hospital with transitional clinics between Alderhey and Broadgreen to provide a seamless patient care for children and young adults with hip problems.
I completed my Higher Surgical training in the Mersey rotation and did my fellowship training at Wrightington Hospital and The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham before being appointed as a consultant in 2008.
As lead for the hip unit at Broadgreen, I have improved patient outcomes and helped set up the enhanced recovery pathways for joint replacement surgery. I have extensive experience in revision hip surgery including revision surgery for failed metal on metal hips, periprosthetic fractures and infected joint replacements.
I have a keen interest in research and have published several papers in peer reviewed journals, as well as presenting at national and international orthopaedic conferences.
