My private practice at Spire Southampton includes the management of benign prostate disease, prostate and bladder cancer, kidney cancer, and other urological cancers, as well as advanced therapies such as Aquablation. I also treat urinary tract infections, incontinence, erectile and sexual dysfunction, and complex urological pathologies.
I am one of the UK’s leaders in prostate cancer management. And one of a handful of clinicians combining an interest in imaging and precision diagnostics, with skills in both focal therapy and robotic assisted laparoscopic surgery.
I now offer Aquablation therapy, a minimally invasive treatment combining robotic technology to guide a heat-free waterjet for precise tissue removal providing, consistent and long-term relief of an enlarged prostate (BPH). Aquablation therapy also carries a low risk of common side effects typically associated with alternative BPH treatments, such as loss of sexual function and incontinence.
I am one of two surgeons leading the prostate cancer service at University Hospital Southampton. In the past few years I have helped transform the service with innovations in the diagnostic pathway, development of new therapies, including High Intensity Focused Ultrasound, focal Cryotherapy, and recently led the efforts to deliver a robotic surgery service at Spire Southampton Hospital.
I have also led the development of a prostate cancer research programme in Southampton. The work included evaluation of new urinary markers for cancer detection, investigation of HIFU and new imaging techniques in prostate cancer management. I was the principal investigator in Southampton for the PROMIS study. With Southampton being the 3rd biggest contributor to the landmark multicentre study which confirmed the value of MP-MRI in prostate cancer assessment.

I trained in London and spent time at Kings College Hospital, University College Hospital, Imperial Healthcare and the Royal Marsden Hospital. I was awarded a Royal College of Surgeons Uro-Oncology Fellowship at Imperial in 2009, and subsequently was the UK’s First Robotic Surgery Fellow at Royal Marsden Hospital. I subsequently worked as a locum consultant there prior to taking up my post at Southampton. My training also included a two year research period as Lecturer in Molecular Uro-Pathology which led to two masters degrees.
