I am a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Spire Nottingham Hospital and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, as well as an Honorary Assistant Professor at The University of Nottingham.

I specialise in prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment, including high-resolution 3T prostate MRI scans, transperineal template-guided prostate biopsy, MRI-US guided fusion prostate biopsy, robotic prostatectomy using the da Vinci Surgical System, and hydrogel spacer/fiducial placement for prostate radiotherapy. I also specialise in kidney cancer diagnosis and treatment, pelviureteric junction obstruction, and minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgery. I also perform surgery for male bladder outflow obstruction (TURP). To date I have performed over 1000 robotic prostatectomy and 250 robotic kidney surgery cases. Other key clinical interests include benign prostate enlargement, and Men’s Health assessment, including erectile dysfunction and testosterone deficiency.

I graduated with First-Class Honours from Nottingham University Medical School in 1998, followed by comprehensive urology training, a research doctorate focused on the molecular basis of prostate cancer, and two years of specialised fellowship training in laparoscopic and robotic surgery, including a twelve-month placement at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Australia. During the final phase of my training, I was awarded the Keith Yeates Gold Medal by the Royal College of Surgeons in recognition of exceptional performance in the FRCS(Urol) examinations.

At Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, I serve as the Lead Cancer Clinician for Urology and Director of the Nottingham Fellowship in Robotic and Laparoscopic Urology. I have played a pivotal role in pioneering advanced surgical techniques in the region, performing the East Midlands’ first robotic prostatectomy in 2014, and have since introduced robotic partial nephrectomy, robotic pyeloplasty, retroperitoneal laparoscopic surgery and local anaesthetic transperineal prostate biopsy to the Trust.

I am dedicated to improving patient outcomes through research and education. For over a decade, I have provided online access to my comprehensive urology notes for urologists and nurses. I have served on the British Association of Urological Surgeons Executive Committee in Urological Oncology and GIRFT National Kidney Cancer Guidelines Panel, and am an active reviewer for several leading journals, including the BJUI, Journal of Urology, and European Urology. I have published over 60 peer-reviewed manuscripts in urology, and am a Principal Investigator for the NeuroSAFE PROOF, ELIPSE and PARTIAL trials in Nottingham.

Outside of work, I’m a keen cyclist and walker. I am married with two children.
