BM BMedSc FRCSEd (Tr & Orth)
I am an orthopaedic and plastic surgery trained hand and wrist specialist, with my elective private practice at Spire Norwich Hospital dedicated exclusively to the diagnosis and treatment of hand and wrist conditions.
A large proportion of my practice in Norwich, Norfolk is devoted to the management of hand and wrist arthritis, peripheral nerve disorders and Dupuytren’s disease. I provide expert assessment and treatment for a wide range of conditions affecting the hand and wrist offering both surgical and non-surgical treatment options tailored to each patient's individual needs.
Common conditions I treat include carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, Dupuytren’s contracture, ganglion cysts, trigger finger, thumb arthritis, wrist arthritis, tendon disorders, hand and wrist injuries, and nerve compression syndromes. I also offer joint pain treatments, including injections and other non-operative therapies where appropriate.
As a specialist hand surgeon in Norwich, I am committed to delivering personalised care using the most appropriate treatment pathway, helping patients regain function, reduce pain and return to their everyday activities as quickly as possible.
I am skilled with, and advocate for, less invasive surgical techniques (e.g. denervation or arthroscopy) where possible, but am also experienced with total joint replacements of the fingers, thumb and wrist. The latter I have now introduced to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, giving patients a motion preserving alternative to total wrist fusion.
Prior to taking a consultant position at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital I completed speciality training across Yorkshire and the East of England, followed by a highly competitive, nationally appointed fellowship in hand and wrist surgery.
Alongside my clinical practice I am an academic supervisor to specialist trainees and am actively engaged with education.
During my training I developed an interest in healthcare in low and middle income countries, and have visited Malawi and Sri-Lanka to support BSSH projects.
I have previously served on the BSSH Global Partnership Trainee Committee and on the leadership team for the BSSH LION project, introducing a sustainable hand surgery service in Malawi.
