I am a Consultant Gynaecologist at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital, providing care and treatment to the community of Cambridge and the wider East of England. With over 17 years of experience as a consultant, I specialise in the comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of gynaecological conditions, from common menstrual problems to early-stage gynaecological cancers.
My clinical practice focuses on delivering personalised, high-quality care for women experiencing symptoms such as heavy or irregular periods, pelvic pain, endometriosis and vulval conditions. I have a particular interest in the early detection and treatment of cervical pre-cancer (cervical intraepithelial neoplasia) and provide advanced colposcopy services, often performing treatments under local anaesthetic to support patient comfort and faster recovery.
I am highly experienced in minimally invasive gynaecological surgery, including both laparoscopic (keyhole) and hysteroscopic techniques. These advanced approaches allow me to treat many conditions effectively while minimising disruption to patients’ daily lives. I have been performing laparoscopic surgery for more than 17 years and routinely carry out procedures such as hysterectomy, ovarian cyst removal and treatment of endometriosis, all with a focus on achieving excellent clinical outcomes and reducing recovery times.
I am currently undergoing training in robotic-assisted surgery.
I trained in East of England and currently practice at Hinchingbrooke Hospital (Huntingdon), North West Anglia NHS Trust. I have led the Colposcopy and Gynaecology Cancer MDT (Multi Disciplinary Team) service at the Trust for over 12 years.
I have performed hundreds of major gynaecological procedures such as laparoscopic and open hysterectomies and removal of ovarian cyst. I run weekly hysteroscopy and colposcopy clinics and have performed over 500 outpatient procedures such as colposcopy, hysteroscopy, endometrial ablation, endometrial biopsy, coil insertions and excision of vulval lesions. I have key interest in the management of menstrual disorders and pelvic pain and expertise in performing gynaecological transvaginal ultrasound scans.
Over the past 17 years, I have held a number of senior leadership roles both within and beyond my NHS Trust. I currently serve as Divisional Director for Maternity, Gynaecology and Breast services, a position I have held for the past four years. I am also the lead for the Gynaecology Cancer Multidisciplinary Team and was previously Lead Colposcopist for over a decade. In addition, I have undertaken other key leadership responsibilities including Clinical Lead, Trust Audit Lead and Chair of the Trust Medical Advisory Committee, and I have represented the East of England as Regional Representative for the British Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.
