I am a Consultant Colorectal, Hernia and General surgeon with over two decades of surgical experience in a large tertiary teaching hospital.
My specialist interests lie in the modern management of haemorrhoids (Rafaleo, HALO), proctology (fissures, fistula), minimally invasive and robotic surgery for colorectal cancer, pelvic floor disorders, and complex hernia repairs.
I am nationally recognised for pelvic floor conditions including chronic constipation, prolapse, rectocoele, intussusception, rectovaginal fistula and procedures including pelvic floor repairs, laparoscopic (keyhole) rectopexy, laparoscopic ventral mesh rectopexy, STARR procedure, rectocoele repairs.
I am highly experienced in management of hernia including laparoscopic repair of inguinal, femoral, umbilical, paraumbilical, epigastric, lumbar, abdominal wall/ incisional, spigelian, and parastomal hernia. I am a pioneer in the use of robotic surgery for complex hernia in Yorkshire.
I am JAG certified endoscopist and colonoscopist with best published outcomes, safety profile, highest volume (>600 per year) and nationally recognised for optimal patient experience in colonoscopy.
I am passionate about using advanced techniques to deliver faster recovery and improved outcomes for my patients. My approach is compassionate, evidence-based, and fully tailored to each individual’s needs.

I am an executive council member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGB&I). I am the the Lead clinician for colorectal cancers and pelvic floor disorders at Leeds. I have a keen interest in training and as the Head of school of surgery, am responsible for training and management of 600 postgraduate surgical trainees.
