Specialises in

  • Bladder investigations (cystoscopy)

I provide specialist treatment services for patients suffering from kidney stones at Spire Parkway Hospital. This includes laser treatment of stones (through telescope), keyhole surgery to remove stones, lithotripsy (shock wave treatment), laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for kidney problems.

My special expertise is in performing keyhole surgery and laser treatment for stones. I have performed over 320 keyhole procedures for stones and more than 1,500 laser operations. My other area of expertise is in performing laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for benign conditions of the kidney (laparoscopic nephrectomy and pyeloplasty).

I have established a regional treatment service for kidney stones which caters to complex stone disease patients referred from across the West Midlands.

I undertook my basic Urological training and research in West Yorkshire, followed by higher surgical training in London. I underwent specialist training in endoscopic surgery for stone disease and laparoscopic surgery at Kings College, London and St George's Hospital.

I spent some time in the Cleveland clinic and John Hopkins Hospital in America on a travelling scholarship from the British Urological Foundation. Here, I learnt minimally invasive surgical skills before joining the University Hospital Birmingham as Consultant Urological Surgeon.
