I am passionate about knee surgery and also the non-operative management of many knee complaints. I perform 700-750 surgical procedures per year and manage many patients with a non-operative multi-disciplinary approach.

I was appointed as a substantive consultant in 2011 at Bradford Teaching Hospitals as a consultant knee surgeon. This was after finishing two competitive and rewarding knee surgery fellowships. I took over the NHS work of a senior knee surgeon with a complex practice. Since then I have enjoyed building and nurturing a first class knee service with – weekly knee meeting, a ‘one-stop’ multi-disciplinary clinic, outreach sports injury clinics in A&E, day case complex knee surgery and driving regional knee research forward.

I have successfully treated athletes in a multitude of sports/recreational activities, from weekend warriors to people representing England/GB. I truly love my job, especially the satisfaction of getting people back competing again or walking pain-free having suffered with arthritis for years.

I am a reviewer for ‘The Knee’ journal.

What is an ACL injury? Symptoms, causes and diagnosis

I enjoy all sports. My main passion has always been rugby and only a few years ago I represented Yorkshire in the front row. My boots have not been hung up yet (and I should know better). I spend most of my spare time now running around/cleaning up after my brood of three.
