I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in all aspects of knee surgery, primary hip replacement surgery and sports knee injuries. Throughout my career, I have developed extensive experience in both general and specialist orthopaedics and have worked alongside leading surgeons in major orthopaedic centres across the UK.
I developed a strong interest in knee and hip surgery early in my training. In 2011, after completing a fellowship in knee surgery at the Exeter Knee Reconstruction Unit at the Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre, I began practice at consultant level within the NHS.
Before taking up my consultant post at Tameside General Hospital, I worked in several specialist centres including Exeter, Leighton Hospital in Crewe, University Hospital of North Midlands and Central Manchester University Hospital.
My NHS and private practice covers all aspects of knee surgery and primary hip replacement surgery. I perform hip and knee replacements using enhanced recovery techniques designed to support early movement and rehabilitation after surgery.
I have a particular interest in advanced surgical techniques for younger patients with knee arthritis, including cartilage surgery, osteotomies and realignment procedures, as well as partial knee replacement surgery. I am also trained in customised knee replacement surgery and computer-assisted knee replacement techniques.
In addition, I specialise in arthroscopic (keyhole) knee surgery and the treatment of sports-related knee injuries, including ACL, PCL and multi-ligament injuries. I also manage patellar (kneecap) instability and knee pain. For hip replacement surgery, I perform both cemented and uncemented procedures and use ceramic and advanced plastic bearing materials where appropriate, particularly for younger patients with arthritis.
My aim is always to provide personalised treatment plans that help patients reduce pain, improve mobility and return to their normal activities as safely and confidently as possible.
