Specialises in
I have worked within the NHS since 2002, training at several leading neurosurgical centres across the UK, including Southampton, Cambridge, Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Dundee. In 2017, I was appointed as a Consultant Neurosurgeon at Hull University Teaching Hospitals, where I focus on complex spinal surgery.
Alongside my clinical training, I dedicated three years to research in neural stem cells and developmental biology in Dundee and Newcastle. I also completed an advanced Royal College of Surgeons–approved Senior Spinal Fellowship at the Golden Jubilee Regional Spinal Centre, where I developed expertise in adolescent and adult spinal deformity, minimally invasive surgical techniques, and the management of complex spinal conditions.
In my current role, I care for patients with a wide range of both emergency and planned conditions affecting the brain and spine. I regularly help people experiencing back and neck pain, degenerative spinal and lumbar conditions (wear and tear of the spine), and spinal injuries. I also treat broader neurosurgical conditions, including brain tumours, hydrocephalus (fluid build-up in the brain), peripheral nerve disorders, and vascular or skull base conditions.
My specialist interests include minimally invasive spinal surgery, which uses smaller incisions to support recovery, as well as spinal deformity correction and trauma care. I am also experienced in pain management techniques such as spinal cord stimulation, vertebroplasty (a procedure to stabilise spinal fractures), and cervical disc replacement.
I am committed to supporting the next generation of surgeons and currently serve as Principal Tutor in Neurosurgery in Hull. I have also previously represented neurosurgery on the Regional Major Trauma Board and am an Advanced Trauma Life Support Instructor.
Beyond my work in the UK, I regularly contribute to charitable medical initiatives in sub-Saharan Africa, helping to improve access to neurosurgical care in underserved communities.
Throughout my work, I aim to provide clear communication and compassionate, personalised care, supporting my patients in understanding their condition and treatment options.
