Professor Shakil Ahmed

Robotic Colorectal & General Surgeon

LRCP LMSSA LRCS

I am a Robotic Colorectal and General Surgeon based at Spire Liverpool Hospital, providing expert assessment and treatment for a range of colorectal conditions. My clinical interests include colorectal (bowel) cancer, colonoscopy and the management of functional bowel conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

I use a modern, minimally invasive approach where appropriate, including robotic surgery.  I place a strong emphasis on clear communication, ensuring that patients have time to discuss their symptoms, understand their diagnosis and feel confident in their treatment options.

Colonoscopy plays an important role in both the investigation of bowel symptoms and the early detection of bowel cancer, and I provide this service as part of a comprehensive colorectal assessment. I also support patients with ongoing bowel concerns, including IBS, offering a thorough and measured approach to diagnosis and management.

During appointments, I aim to provide clear explanations and a personalised plan of care, ensuring patients feel informed and supported at every stage of their treatment journey.
