MB ChB, FRCS (Glas), FRCS (Tr & Orth), Dip Biomechanics
I have been a consultant orthopaedic spinal surgeon at Salford Royal Foundation Trust since 2001 and I’m a Clinical Lead in complex spinal surgery. My current specialist interests are in spinal deformity, degenerative spine disease, spinal tumours and spinal trauma whilst also dealing with paediatric spinal emergencies at Manchester Children’s Hospital and Salford Royal, where there is a tertiary referral centre for spine related problems. I have experience of the biomechanics of the spine and have supervised PhD students at Manchester University.
I teach at Salford University and also teach undergraduates at Salford Royal. I’m a Clinical Supervisor for orthopaedic and spinal trainees. I also mentor spinal consultants. I have a particular interest in revision spinal surgery; particularly complex spinal issues and spinal osteotomies. I believe in a comprehensive, holistic approach to the spine, keeping a close eye on individual patient needs, their particular medical and social needs to tailor treatments specific to them.
I have pioneered surgical techniques which are transforming to spinal surgery. I’ve extensively published in this field and participate in pan European outcome data collection and registry through Spine TANGO. This allows for comparison of outcomes with peers. I have pioneered and have extensive experience in spondylolytic spondylolisthesis (adult and paediatric), degenerative scoliosis, pars repairs, boney osteotomies of the spine - including the cervical spine.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Saeed Mohammad at Spire include:
Orthopaedics
Operative technique evaluation
