My key interests are arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and surgery for trauma in the shoulder. Techniques for rotator cuff repair, shoulder dislocation, a/c joint injuries continue to evolve rapidly each year, as a member of The British Elbow and Shoulder Society, I keep up to date with developments and evidence based treatments.
Conditions treated include: Rotator cuff tear and impingement, shoulder dislocation/instability and SLAP lesions, frozen shoulder, osteoarthritis and rotator cuff arthropathy of the shoulder, fractures of shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, a/c joint pain and instability, cubital and carpal tunnel syndrome, basal thumb arthritis, Dupuytren’s disease, lumps/cysts in the hand and wrist, trigger finger.
I was brought up in Holywood, County Down in Northern Ireland and trained at Edinburgh Medical School. I have been working as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Hospital since 2009. My training was spent in the Midlands with specialist orthopaedic training occurring at Oswestry, Birmingham and Coventry and Warwickshire. In order to fulfil specialist training in upper limb surgery I completed two fellowships in Derby and Melbourne, Australia. This involved working at the Melbourne Shoulder and Elbow unit and The Derby Upper Limb/Pulvertaft tertiary referral units.

My main passion in life is my family and rugby. Rugby has passed through generations in my family. My own representative honours include caps for Ulster Schools, Ulster under-20s, Ulster Exiles, Irish Schools and Irish Exiles, Edinburgh University and Scottish Universities. My son plays in Stratford-upon-Avon. I also currently provide care and advice for upper limb injuries to Birmingham City Football Club.
