I undertake all aspects of surgery of the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts and pancreas. I have specialist experience and all expertise in repairing complications of gallbladder surgery, surgery for complex abdominal tumours and sarcomas and radical resection of bile duct cancer. I also have a special interest in the surgical treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma.
I trained at King's College London and qualified in 1995. I also undertook my surgical training there and in South East London and Kent. During my training I held an academic appointment with King's College London as a Lecturer in surgery. Having spent my formative years at a leading international centre for the treatment of liver disease, I decided at an early stage to pursue a career in liver and pancreatic surgery.
I spent my last few years of training at Addenbrooke's Hospital (Cambridge University Hospitals). This included a fellowship in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) surgery and a two year fellowship in solid organ transplantation, which included training in liver, pancreas, kidney and intestinal transplantation.
I held the post of Clinical Director for Theatres at University Hospital Bristol until December 2018.
In addition to my clinical work, I am also actively researching and involved in several National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) grants. I am an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol.
