I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Bristol Royal Infirmary and the Avon Orthopaedic Centre.
I graduated from the University of Manchester in 1994. I have been a Senior House Officer in Bristol and studied for Higher Surgical Training in Wales. Whilst in Wales I developed an interest in basic science research and was awarded a national grant, which enabled me to pursue full-time research and obtained an MD.
I underwent fellowship training in hand surgery at internationally renowned units in Nottingham and Sydney hospitals. During this time I developed skills in wrist arthroscopy, rheumatoid surgery, wrist and small joint arthroplasty and microvascular surgery. I also specialise in elbow, hand and wrist surgery. I have a special interest in sports injuries, wrist injuries, rheumatoid arthritis, Dupuytren's disease, nerve compression syndromes, and hand and wrist fractures.
I am committed to teaching and run the Bristol hand course for orthopaedic trainees. I also lecture on a number of national hand surgery courses.
Outside of work I am a dedicated husband and father. I enjoy cooking and reading, I also like to keep fit and play squash.
