I have been a Consultant Ophthalmologist for the last 20 years specialising in Cataract surgery and Phakoemulsification, Diabetes and Macular degeneration. My specialist interests are small incision cataract surgery, diabetic eye diseases, and medical retinal conditions including macular degeneration and lachrymal disorders and laser treatment for watering eyes.

Prior to coming to the UK I completed my post graduation in ophthalmology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India and was awarded an MD in Ophthalmology. I also completed a short fellowship in Oculoplastics at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Boston, USA, prior to taking up the post of Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.

I have been actively involved in the Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Service in Wales and am medical retina lead clinician in my health board. I run a specialist diabetes and uveitis clinic once a week. I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and a member of the British Medical Association.

I am the Principal Investigator for LEAVO research project in my Health Board. I have been an examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmology for the last 15 years. I have been a member of the Examination Committee at the Royal College of Ophthalmology.

I contribute regularly to local and regional teaching, which is held at Cardiff once a week. I am involved on training junior doctors including FP2 and STs. I undertake teaching for fourth year medical students who attend ophthalmology as part of MOSS rotation. I also contribute to lunchtime multidisciplinary meeting on a regular basis. I am on the teaching faculty for teaching Basic Microsurgery Course for Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
