Mr Phil Hopgood

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Norwich, Norfolk with a private practice at Spire Norwich Hospital.  I have been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Trust since 2005. My clinical practice is entirely related to hip and knee surgery undertaking hip replacement, knee replacement and knee arthroscopy surgery.  I also see and treat orthopaedic hip and knee trauma patients.

According to data submitted to the National Joint Registry, I am a high-volume hip and knee surgeon, with outstanding outcomes. I regularly undertake partial knee replacement due to its association with faster recovery, better outcomes and lower rate of complications than standard knee replacements.

I chair the regional revision knee Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and regularly lecture at international meetings on knee arthroplasty. I chair the national Primary Knee Arthroplasty Working Group for the British Association of Surgery of the Knee.

I am an Honorary Associate Professor - an honour granted to me by the University of East Anglia in 2023.
