I am a Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal and General Surgeon practising in Cambridge at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital. I have a specialist interest in minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgery and conditions affecting the oesophagus and stomach. I provide expert assessment and treatment for a wide range of upper gastrointestinal conditions, combining advanced surgical techniques with a patient centred approach.
My clinical practice includes the management of gallbladder and gallstone disease, hernias, abdominal wall conditions alongside disorders such as gastrooesophageal reflux disease, pancreatitis and hiatus hernia. I perform a high volume of laparoscopic procedures each year, offering patients minimally invasive options that can support faster recovery and improved outcomes.
I have a particular interest anti-reflux surgery and motility disorders such as achalasia. I also work within a busy cancer centre treating oesophageal and gastric cancers. I have been closely involved in developing and introducing minimally invasive techniques for complex procedures in Cambridge, including thoracoscopic and laparoscopic resections for oesophageal malignancy, and have performed a large number of these operations.
I qualified from the University of Southampton in 1993 and completed my surgical training across the Wessex, South West and Oxford regions. I have been a Consultant Surgeon at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge since 2007, where I work as part of a leading specialist centre for upper gastrointestinal and cancer surgery.
I have published a paper on laparoscopic reoperation for failed anti-reflux surgery.
