Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon

BSc MB ChB MRCS (Eng) PG Cert Med Ed FRCS (Tr & Orth)

"Working at Spire Bristol Hospital enables me to treat my patients in a first class hospital and allows time for careful examination and investigation."

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon. I specialise in minimally invasive and arthroscopic surgery, including keyhole bunion correction and ankle arthroscopy. Other treatments I offer include first MTPJ fusion, ankle ligament reconstruction, flat foot correction, keyhole bunion (hallux valgus) correction and lesser toe correction.

I completed advanced foot and ankle fellowship training in Sydney, Australia and Bristol, where I trained under world experts, learning the latest techniques in minimally invasive, percutaneous and arthroscopic surgery. This allows me to bring a modern approach to treating my patients.

I have a busy NHS practice and I treat all sports and degenerative conditions of the foot and ankle. This includes minimally invasive bunion surgery, big toe fusion, lesser toe correction, ankle arthroscopy, ankle stabilisation, ankle fusions (arthroscopic and open), achilles tendon surgery, midfoot fusions, and ankle replacement.

I am the orthopaedic diabetic foot lead at Southmead Hospital. I am an honorary lecturer at the University of Bristol and the orthopaedic lead for trainee doctors at the North Bristol Academy. I am the educational orthopaedic lead at Southmead Hospital, Bristol. I teach minimally invasive bunion surgery nationally and internationally and have also authored several book chapters about this technique. My research interests include the outcomes of minimally invasive bunion surgery and as well as foot and ankle trauma.

Outside work I am kept busy by my son and two daughters. I enjoy swimming, surfing and spending as much time outside as possible.
