BSc MBChB FRCS (Trauma and Orth)
I am a Consultant Spinal Surgeon at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. I specialise in a wide range of spinal pathologies, with specialist interests in adult degenerative conditions, spinal trauma, and metastatic disease of the spine. I am motivated, enthusiastic, and excited to work in a surgical speciality in which technology and skills/techniques are advancing rapidly.
I was raised in Sheffield and qualified from Warwick Medical School in 2010. I was appointed as an academic junior doctor and my interest in education and research continues to develop. I completed my basic surgical training in the West Midlands and returned to Sheffield for higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedics.
I completed two years of prestigious fellowships: 12-months as a senior spinal surgery fellow in an AO recognised centre (Brisbane, Australia) working alongside Dr Geoff Askin and then 12-months in Birmingham between the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
I specialise in Adult Spinal Spinal Surgery with an interest in degenerative conditions of all areas of the spine- cervical spine to pelvis. This includes spinal decompressions, fusions and deformity correction. I also have expertise in treating those with spinal tumours and traumatic spinal/ spinal cord injuries.
Alongside my clinical role, I am the Academic Training Programme Director for South Yorkshire Trauma and Orthopaedics higher surgical trainees. I am actively involved in education and enjoy supporting educations events for doctors and allied health professionals.
