I qualified from Barts & The London School of Medicine in 1993 and started my surgical training at the Hammersmith, Chelsea & Westminster and the Royal Brompton Hospitals. I was a Clinical Research Fellow in Vascular Surgery at Imperial College London, winning the European Society of Vascular Surgery Young Investigator prize in 2000. For my research, I was awarded the Royal Society of Medicine Glaxo Travelling Fellowship to the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston in 2001 and to the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore in 2002.
Upon finishing my Higher Surgical Training on the South East Thames rotation at Kings College Hospital in London in 2006, I completed a fellowship in Endovascular Surgery at St. Mary’s Hospital, London prior to my appointment as consultant vascular surgeon at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.
I currently chair of the Vascular & Endovascular Skills Simulation Training committee at the London Postgraduate School of Surgery at Imperial College. I have been a faculty member for "Team Training in Ruptured Aortic Aneurysm Management Course" the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the vascular ultrasound course at Kings College Hospital. I have led Human Factors training for theatre teams and help to pioneer the development of cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPX) for patients undergoing high risk surgery at Frimley Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. I am the local vascular surgical lead for our Diabetic Limb Salvage multidisciplinary clinic. I have served as secretary to the Surrey Vascular Group Network and also vascular surgical representative for the South East Coast Cardiovascular Strategic Clinical Network for NHS England.
I have published in the Journal of Vascular Surgery, the European Journal of Vascular & Endovascular Surgery, Phlebology, Annals of the Royal College of Surgeons and the British Journal of Surgery and given presentations at the Society of Vascular Surgery (USA), the European Society of Vascular Surgery, the Vascular Society of Great Britain & Ireland, the Asian Society of Vascular Surgery, the Charing Cross International Vascular Symposium and the London Aortic Symposium. I am a manuscript reviewer for the Annals Journal and Bulletin Journal of the Royal College of Surgeons and the British Journal of Surgery. I am Principal Investigator at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust for several multi-centre vascular trials such as the IMPROVE study, the EVRA study and the BASIL-I and BASIL-II studies.
