I am a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon with a specialist interest in all aspects of foot and ankle surgery, as well as knee arthroscopy and knee arthroplasty (replacement). I have been a consultant since 2004, based at Sunderland Royal Hospital, and practise privately at Spire Washington Hospital – ideally located to support patients from the Durham, Sunderland and Newcastle areas.
I qualified in medicine from Newcastle University Medical School in 1994 and completed comprehensive orthopaedic training in the Northeast. My training was further enhanced through specialist fellowships in Bristol and the United States, enabling me to develop advanced surgical skills and experience in managing complex orthopaedic problems.
My clinical practice has a strong focus on the assessment and treatment of foot and ankle conditions, incorporating specialist surgical expertise in bunion correction, ganglion removal, ingrown toenail surgery and ankle arthroscopy. I offer both surgical and non‑surgical treatment options where appropriate, ensuring care is tailored to individual patient needs.
In addition, I specialise in knee arthroscopy and knee replacement surgery, managing conditions such as osteoarthritis, cartilage damage and ligament injuries. I also provide joint injections and joint manipulation treatments as part of a comprehensive and evidence‑based approach to joint pain management.
