BSc (Hons) MBBS MD FRCS FRCS (Gen)
I am a Consultant General and Laparoscopic Surgeon at Spire Gatwick Park Hospital. I trained in London, Bristol and the West Midlands and undertook a specialist year in Western Australia, learning advanced laparoscopic techniques before returning to take up my consultant post in 2008.
I am a dedicated keyhole specialist and perform the following procedures: gallbladder disease/gallstones, single port gallbladder surgery (near scarless), hiatus hernia and reflux disease, keyhole abdominal and groin hernia repairs, recurrent hernia repair, endoscopy.
I have always been at the forefront of innovation and the quality of my operations and patient care are borne out by the many thousand of successful patients I have treated over my 26 years of medical practice, 11 of which as a consultant.
I have lectured on advanced laparoscopic surgery both nationally and internationally. I have been an invited speaker at many prestigious forums including the European Association of Endoscopic Surgeons, Imperial College in London and Erasmus University in the Netherlands.
I have published and presented work widely and continue to contribute to surgical progress.
I have performed over 2500 laparoscopic cholecystectomies, 1000 laparoscopic hernia repairs and over 100 hiatus hernia repairs. I was one of the first surgeons in the UK to perform a single port cholecystectomy and established day case surgery at Surrey and Sussex NHS Trust in 2009. I performed the first day case laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic anti-reflux and revision anti-reflux surgery at the Trust and at Spire Gatwick Park.
I am a keen triathlete and cyclist. I have raced in many triathlons, up to and including the Ironman, but now concentrate on cycling events where I raise money for charities such as Wateraid, SCOPE and cancer charities.
I was part of the medical support for the 2012 Olympic Triathlon race.
I have two children who go to school locally and sometimes come biking with me.
