I am a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust where I provide a general ophthalmology service and specialty services in corneal disease. I am also the clinical lead for cataract surgery.
I have extensive training in refractive cataract surgery aiming to significantly reduce the dependence of spectacles after surgery. Having completed two corneal fellowships at Cambridge University Hospital and the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, I undertake all forms of modern corneal transplantation as well as corneal surface procedures and YAG laser treatments including corneal collagen cross-linking and laser capsulotomy.
I qualified from University College London medical school with distinction in medical sciences in 2009 and won several academic prizes as well as a commendation for the prestigious Duke Elder Prize for ophthalmology. I continue to be engaged in research and teaching and have numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals. I frequently lecture in the UK and have run several wetlab surgical training courses for trainee surgeons. I am also a surgical trainer for London ophthalmology trainees.
I am recognised as a specialist with the General Medical Council (GMC) and I am a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth). During my residency, I sat on the College Council and was chair of the ophthalmologists in training group. I am also a member of the European and UK and Ireland Societies of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS, UKISCRS).
