I studied medicine at Trinity College Oxford. I returned to Yorkshire after my ‘House Jobs’ to join the Leeds surgical rotation. I then joined the Yorkshire Orthopaedic rotation, gaining experience from a number of centres across West and North Yorkshire.

I then completed my spinal training with a fellowship in Sheffield. My spinal fellowship included a period on the Visiting Surgeon Program with Dr Daniel Riew and Dr Lawrence Lenke in St Louis, USA.

In 2009 I returned to Leeds as a Consultant Spinal Surgeon.

I am Lead Clinician for Spinal Surgery at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

I specialise in a comprehensive range of spinal conditions and surgical procedures, including coccygectomy, lumbar decompression, and lumbar microdiscectomy.
My practice also encompasses spinal nerve root blocks for sciatica (leg pain), instrumented spinal fusion with decompression, and advanced interbody fusion techniques such as PLIF, TLIF, and XLIF.
I have extensive experience in managing spinal deformities, including scoliosis and Scheuermann’s kyphosis, as well as treating spinal tumours, trauma, and infection.
I provide expert care for conditions such as trapped nerves, slipped discs, spinal stenosis, radicular pain, spondylolisthesis, and degenerative thoracic and lumbar disorders.
My expertise extends to both adult and paediatric spinal deformities, coccydynia, acute spine trauma, and metastatic spinal disease, with a focus on alleviating back and leg pain and improving overall spinal health and function.
