Mr Niel Kang

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in shoulder and elbow surgery, with a particular focus on upper limb conditions and complex trauma. I see private patients in Cambridge at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital.

My clinical practice includes both surgical and non-surgical treatment of shoulder and elbow conditions. I have extensive experience in keyhole (arthroscopic) surgery, shoulder replacement surgery, fracture management and the treatment of soft tissue shoulder conditions such as rotator cuff disorders, frozen shoulder and tendon problems.

I have been involved in educational instruction throughout my professional career, from bedside teaching to lecturing at international meetings. In addition to being a faculty member for the Royal College of Surgeons of England viva course, I also teach orthopaedic surgeons in training and medical students.

Having completed a prestigious London orthopaedic training scheme and further specialist training in Cambridge, I am currently a Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. In the pursuit of excellence and to equip myself with the most up to date knowledge and skills, I have enhanced my skills by learning from world class upper limb experts in New York at the Hospital for Special Surgery and Mount Sinai Hospital, and centres of excellence in Mumbai, India. I have been the recipient of national awards during the course of my training.

With the aims of continually improving orthopaedic practice and patient outcomes and experience, I collaborate in studies with other experts from orthopaedic centres of excellence. I have numerous peer reviewed publications and presentations on a wide range of orthobiologic, joint replacement and trauma topics. I am also an expert reviewer for the world renowned Bone and Joint Journal.
