I am a Consultant ENT Surgeon jointly appointed to provide ENT services at King's Mill Hospital and Queen's Medical Centre from 2005.

I graduated from the University of Glasgow Medical School in 1991 and I have undertaken ENT specialist training in Glasgow, Manchester and the East Midlands. During training I completed a MD thesis at the University of Leicester on Neuroprotection of the Cochlea and established a multidisciplinary group in biofilm research in glue ear (OME). I spent nine months on a Fellowship in ENT in Western Australia at Perth Children's Hospital and Sir Charles Gardner Hospitals which involved, in addition, delivering ENT services to remote communities in the Western Desert and Northern Western Australia (flying doctor).

Since appointment as a consultant in 2005 I have held various positions within the NHS including Head of Foundation Year 1 training (responsibility for newly qualified doctors within the trust);and clinical lead for head and neck services (ENT, ophthalmology; audiology; maxilla-facial surgery; orthodontics).

In additional to a busy clinical practice and a number of roles within the NHS, I am an examiner for the ENT examinations both in Europe and in the UK (Fellowship and European board exams) and am a board member for the UK examination. I have recently been invited as a Visiting Professor to the University of Namibia Medical School ahead of a visit later in the year.
