I have been a Consultant Vascular Surgeon since 2011 and am currently working at the South Mersey Arterial Centre at the Countess of Chester Hospital as well as Warrington and Halton Hospitals.
Throughout my previous training in vascular surgical specialist units, I was exposed to a wide variety and high volume of elective vascular operations. I can perform varicose vein operations (primary and redo) and endovenous foam injection sclerotherapy, laser ablation therapy, radiofrequency ablation therapy, ClariVein sclerotherapy or VenaSeal™ therapy for venous conditions.
I also manage carotid, aneurysm, peripheral vascular and diabetic foot diseases as well as leg oedema or ulcers. I perform carotid endarterectomy with patch plasty (under local or general anaesthesia), aortic surgery for aneurismal and occlusive disease, local femoral reconstruction, fem-fem cross-over, axillo-femoral bypass, fem-popliteal bypass, fem-distal bypass, fem- or popliteal-pedal bypass, digital and major lower limb amputations. I also perform endovascular stenting for the repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm (EVAR).
I am an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Liverpool and Salford University. I teach medical students from the University of Liverpool and am also an OSCE examiner for the University. I enjoy teaching and have been awarded with an Educational Merit Award by the Warrington General Hospital Medical Education Department.
I am a panel interviewer for the National Recruitment of surgical trainees as well as an Educational Supervisor for the vascular core and specialist trainees. I am involved in the specialist training and education committee (STEC) for vascular surgery. I am also a faculty member of the Liverpool and Chester Basic Surgical Skills Courses as well as the Manchester Cadaveric Surgical Skills Courses. I have been appointed as a Vascular Intervention Module Leader in a Vascular Surgery MSc Course at the University of Salford.
As part of clinical governance, I have been appointed as an Audit and Mortality and Morbidity Lead at the South Mersey Arterial Centre at the Countess of Chester Hospital. My role is to coordinate, guide, support and supervise vascular audit and research projects. Apart from mortality and morbidity meetings, I also organise monthly audit and research meetings along with educational presentations by guest speakers. As for the regional academic activity, I am a Co-Secretary for the Mersey Vascular Group and co-host of North West Annual Vascular Meetings.
